Alpha Version 0.2 Patch Notes - (May 5th, 2025)


TL;DR - Performance Fixes, New Weapons/Balancing, New Enemies, Improved Menus, Pause Menu + Game Over Stats!


The Patchnotes for Alpha Version 0.2 are as follows:

Engine

  • Performance fixes across the board! See Bug Fixes for the nerd info, but you can now reach higher rounds in the HTML/Web version of the game without lagging! Yippee!!

Gameplay

  • Changed "Upgrades" to "Stat Boosts"
    • To help better clarify what they are. Plus, it allows us to make proper "Upgrades" in the future!
  • Your current Stat Boosts appear always on the HUD.
    •  Now you can keep track of how strong you are!
  • Reworked Rarity Colours/Names, plus the odds of them.
  • Added stats to the Game Over screen!
    • It shows things like the Wave you reached, how many Veggies you defeated, Bunnies consumed, and more!
  • Added a Pause Menu! Now you don't have to worry about losing your run prematurely if your mom asks you to clean your room! :)
  • Added a new Stat, "Critical Chance"! By default, weapons have a 0.05% chance of dealing double damage. Some weapons have higher/lower chances, and you can get Stat Boosts to up your chances!
  • Waves now get harder by not only increasing enemy count, but by increasing odds for harder enemies to spawn.
    • For the first couple Waves, you'll only see Broccogoons and Caroti's. Eventually, you'll see Plumbloons and Cornelius'!
    • But also, the Player Luck slightly increases per Wave :)
  • After-wave Shop Screen now includes two Stat Boosts and a Weapon! Pick wisely :)

Weapons

  • Added five new Weapons!
    • Picker (Rare)
      • Fast-firing SMG, low ammo; lightning reload.
    • The Gambler (Legendary)
      • Low damage, with heightened critical hits!
    • Sniper (Legendary)
      • Slow-firing, massive damage.
    • Afterburner (Mythical)
      • Reliable, steady, with no reloading.
    • The Three Musketeers (Mythical)
      • 3-pellet shotgun, with insanely fast firerate.
  • Updated previous Weapons. 
    • For example, the starting weapon, "Uzineer", now never has to reload. Fire away!

Enemies/Veggies

  • Added two new Veggies!
    • Caroti
      • A fast moving, low-health Carrot! It hops around, and has cute bunny teeth.
    • Cornelius "Kernell"
      • A slow moving, high-HP corn on the cob! It has an increased hit range due to its floating kernels.
  • Changed the "Explosion" particle when killing a Veggie to be the colour of said Veggie.

General Changes

  • Mildew now has a smaller hitbox.
    • This should hopefully make the game feel more forgiving when Veggies get close to you.
  • Changed the Font for some UI elements, like DMG Numbers and the Weapon HUD.
    • This makes the HUD *less* cluttered, even though it still kind of is... We are testing to see what sticks and what doesn't. Let us know if you like these changes!
  • Added some more feedback to when Mildew loses a bunny.
  • Added Score to the HUD. 
    • Currently, just counts Veggie Kills dependent on their score. This will be further expanded upon with cool animations, and score boosts/combos!

Menus

  • Improved the Main Menu! It now has fancy animations :)
  • Added an animation for when Choosable Upgrades get shown on the After-wave Shop Screen.
    • There is also animations for when the After-wave Shop Screen enters and leaves.

Art / SFX / Music

  • Added a Death Animation/Sequence for when Mildew loses all her bunnies. 
    • Don't feel too bad for her, though; she eventually got her glasses fixed :)
  • Added a new Gun sprite for some weapons.
  • Added SFX for when your weapon begins and ends reloading.
  • Added more SFX for different weapons shoot sounds. Pew pew!
  • Added more Music Tracks that play randomly!

Bug Fixes

  • Addressed an issue where Particles were not properly preloading, causing stutters when first playing the game.
    • There is a chance this isn't fully fixed. Please report if so!
  • Fixed an issue where Stat Boosts were not applying to currently equipped weapons.
  • Fixed an issue where Stat Boosts carried over between Runs.
    • As fun as it was to start a run with Superman-like powers, we had to fix this one :(
  • The following were memory leaks, and were directly affecting Performance:
    • Fixed an issue where Particles were not properly deleting themselves when they finished.
    • Fixed an issue relating to Timers and Tweens not properly deleting themselves when they finished.
